This DVD is a wonderful beginning yoga resource and a great introduction to Ana Forrest Yoga. While some of the poses may be challenging to people new to yoga, the long holds give one a chance to really find their comfort zone in each posture and Ana?s ongoing and insightful tips for practice really help the practitioner to learn what they need to know. Her emphasis on linking the breath and intention with the poses helps the beginner to learn to maintain focus while practicing.
As in much of Forrest Yoga, there is a special emphasis on developing core and upper body strength so at the end of the class, one feels like they?ve had a workout. The basic class runs for about one hour. Also included on this DVD, is a beautiful demonstration by Ana of advanced flow yoga that is graceful, lyrical and inspiring to watch, though most of us will never practice this level of asana.

Ana Forrest is recognized worldwide as a pioneer in yoga and emotional healing. Born crippled, her own life trauma and experiences compelled her to create Forrest Yoga. Having studied many yoga styles and healing modalities, most importantly Native American medicine and ceremony, her focus in Forrest Yoga is to guide the student in the sacred exploration of truth, healing, and ?the Great Mystery?. She is a well-known contributing expert to Yoga Journal and other national wellness publications. She travels internationally teaching at yoga conferences, workshops, and teacher trainings. Ana is on the Board of Advisors for the Foundation for Athletic Research and Education and is an instructor for continuing education at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic.
Strength & Spirit is a thorough yoga workout for beginning and students looking for a sound complete Forrest Yoga practice. The home viewer feels part of an actual class as Ana Forrest skillfully works within a classroom setting with students of various practice level. The personal focus of this DVD takes into account the ability of the beginning and intermediate student and offers suitable variations.
